Last weekend we had a lovely performance of the Brahms Horn Trio presented by local chamber music organization Washington Musica Viva. The program also included other pieces by Brahms, and featured Ascension’s own Kevin Grasel on French horn! Stay tuned for future concerts, which will be added to our events calendar soon.

Kevin Grasel, French Horn
Master Sgt. Kevin T. Grasel is a French hornist with the Ceremonial Brass, The United States Air Force Band. Originally from Moorpark, California, his career in the Air Force began in June 2017. Before joining the Air Force, Sgt. Grasel held the third horn position in the Firelands Symphony and toured China with the Oberlin Brass Quintet. In addition, he received fellowships for summer study at the Aspen Music Festival and the Round Top Festival Institute. A graduate of the Juilliard School, Sgt. Grasel received a Master of Music degree in horn performance in 2017. He completed his undergraduate work at Oberlin College and Conservatory, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in horn performance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in politics. His principal teachers include Erik Ralske, Roland Pandolfi, and Louise MacGillivray.
